Why were you invited to this newsletter? Everybody comes from somebody! This is what all of us have in common. In the early stages of the website some very interesting family history was included. It took us back to the early 1780's with Charles and Sarah Marshall, the parents of Mathew Marshall Ford who was Enslaved. It went on to tell us how Jane Ford a free woman married a slave and so Mathew took on her Surname. Jane and Mathew had 17 children. And finally, it explained our Early beginnings in what is known as Culpeper, Virginia.
You may not have been a history buff, but Culpeper was the sight of the most military battles in the Civil war. Why is this important to Our family? Jane and Mathew (a former slave) ran a commissary for the Union Army in the midst of the war. Less than a mile away from the homestead was a military jail.
You have to ask yourself: What kind of People were Our Family! Some of our new readers may still ask: Why is Jane and Mathew important to us. Well Jane and Mathew fathered Richard Ford who married Sarah and had Mary T who in turn married Dock Stroud. Well, hold on, Dock and Mary had 5 daughters who eventually moved to Mount Vernon, N.Y and married into the Haden, Tucker, Michael, Ford and Wyatt Family. Need I say more?
152nd Edition
Peace, love and Smiles,
May each of us Rise to the challenges ahead and give Thanks to the Creator for the resilience of our Ancestors. Here we are on the first day of Black History Month facing Executive orders that state Black History will not be celebrated. Followed by executive orders that books that contain our history, our contributions be banned or rewritten. A calculated aim to continue miseducating and dividing us has been laid out.
It's funny and not so funny how we've been plotted against and fell into the entrapment of hating on one another instead of uplifting the lowest of us. Oh to the fools who didn't recognized the game plan to use our numbers to achieve their goals which does not benefit Us.
How denigrating the act of not voting, of questioning the role a woman could play and finally her blackness. Oh to the fools who assisted in bringing out the lion and the lioness in us! Oh, here comes the smile, because what mankind cannot take from us is what we know! They may rewrite the history books but they won't kill the long line of storytellers. They may close doors on learning truth by not requiring that we learn to read cursive. But in the words of a new political figure: " We won't go back" !
Family, in the midst of all that's going on around us We will smile. No. we will laugh because we've been in this position before. We know the way to the Underground Railroad. We know how to read the Street signs and more importantly we know how to teach ourselves. We can hear the cry that says: "Up you Mighty people " still ringing in our ears. In case you haven't heard it lately let me remind you : " I Am Somebody".
We are going to need Warriors who know who they are! Warriors who are unafraid. Warriors who remember the price our Ancestors paid! Warriors who will stand and say that in spite of all that's going on; " Still We Rise"!!
Family, have faith, do your part to educate your children because the system doesn't intend to. To all those who were broken or lulled to sleep by what they accumulated, by their high or low station in life, by misgivings in believing they know it all or a little bit; to you I say, choose now pull on the strength of the Ancestors and demonstrate "How we got over" !
Peace, love and Smiles Family, take care and Teach the children our Truth!
This newsletter serves to put an exclamation mark on the lives our Ancestors hoped we would have. The messages in this newsletter is to offer hope, encouragement and acknowledgement. So I hope you will reach out to one another and share victories, desires and needs. We can only trust you will find this newsletter worthy of your time and take a moment to read and share your news with us.
