Why were you invited to this newsletter? Everybody comes from somebody! This is what all of us have in common. In the early stages of the website some very interesting family history was included. It took us back to the early 1780's with Charles and Sarah Marshall, the parents of Mathew Marshall Ford who was Enslaved. It went on to tell us how Jane Ford a free woman married a slave and so Mathew took on her Surname. Jane and Mathew had 17 children. And finally, it explained our Early beginnings in what is known as Culpeper, Virginia.
You may not have been a history buff, but Culpeper was the sight of the most military battles in the Civil war. Why is this important to Our family? Jane and Mathew (a former slave) ran a commissary for the Union Army in the midst of the war. Less than a mile away from the homestead was a military jail.
You have to ask yourself: What kind of People were Our Family! Some of our new readers may still ask: Why is Jane and Mathew important to us. Well Jane and Mathew fathered Richard Ford who married Sarah and had Mary T who in turn married Dock Stroud. Well, hold on, Dock and Mary had 5 daughters who eventually moved to Mount Vernon, N.Y and married into the Haden, Tucker, Michael, Ford and Wyatt Family. Need I say more?

Greetings Family may each of you be blessed,
We find ourselves once again in the Season of Thanksgiving. We are thankful for all that's been given to us as well as what we've been able to give. Some of us were given hard times and we're grateful for having gotten through them. And still there are those who had nothing more to give other than there time, good wishes and positive thoughts. And in the end this was more than enough!
If there's one message to give, it would be never measure your worth by the money in your pocket, because the need may be just for you to show up. We have family members who have businesses and they need you to spread the word even if you can't afford their products. Other's are in need of understanding which requires a moment of your time. Life is in need of you just showing up!
So family, let's give thanks by doing! Yes, doing whatever you can for the betterment of our family legacy. Teach, preach, support, show up and show out for that which will give rise to the enrichment of of who we are. Don't be confused by where you are in the picture because the picture is bigger than you. Don't forget the struggle didn't just begin with you, nor will it end with just you.
Be Ye ever so Thankful for what you got because you are Enough!
Happiness to each of you in this Season of Thanksgiving

Good News:
When purpose meets Passion
Congratulations goes out to Jasmine Jennings who celebrated the first year of owning her own business. Jasmine left her position in a company and followed her passion for cooking. Her vision began with a food truck and today she's in a building. So today her dreams have come full circle as she celebrates one year of owning and operating her own Arnaz Barbecue and more in Bellville, Texas.
But what could make the celebration better! Try having your cousin who you haven't physically seen in years show up to your establishment to say: I love you and Congratulations. Well, it happened, her Cousin Marcella Fuller Benjamin drove two hours from the airport alone across the Texas highway and walked in on Jazz, screaming: "I heard this place had the best Brisket in the State!"
Jasmine is the daughter of Wilbur Jennings and Teresa Haden Boone. She is the granddaughter of Clarence Stroud Sr. and Barbara Glover Haden. She is the Great Granddaughter of Lloyd Sr. and Jannie Stroud Haden

My apologies: We regret missing an opportunity to share with our Hispanic cousin in celebrating Hispanic History month. What was indeed on our calendar but we made a serious misstep in not highlighting it. Please know that every aspect of who were are is very important and in going forward we will make every effort to be more inclusive. Much love.
One of our greatest champions and teachers was Arturo Alphonso Schomburg, who understood our lack of documented history and the content to which The African diaspora was a major contributor. Arturo Schomburg, was born Jan 24,1874 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He made his transition on Jun 10,1938 in Brooklyn, New York.
It was Arturo's hard work that created what is now known and revered as the Schomburg library in Harlem New York. So, again our deepest apologies, it won't happen again.
Prayer Warriors
Once again we are grateful to the Most High for allowing us as family to have another day to get right, to get our lives right, to get our relationships right as well as our priorities. Thanks be for the opportunity to change, be changed and to make change. As prayer warriors we ask for Grace! We're in disturbing times and request that each of us do all that we can to hold on and to hold others up. Keep our Elders in your daily thoughts and prayers, take a moment of your precious time to send a kind word.
We've been blessed to share the many works and deeds of our Cousins Mary Harris and Michelle Harris-Dixon, in their fight to conquer Cancer and bring about awareness to treatment and support. They are not the only ones; but they need to be saluted and encouraged. So today after returning from Nevada to support this years final fundraising activity, Strike out Cancer, we ask you to keep Michele Harris-Dixon and Mary Royster Harris in your prayers. These two warriors push past their own issues and continue the fight on a daily level. Last month's activities were a huge success in attendance and fiscal gain. However, it took a toll on the two organizers. So your prayers are needed to bring these two back to their full physical form. Please pray without stopping till they are strong again .
