Why were you invited to this newsletter?   This is what all of us have in common.

In the early stages of the website some very interesting family history was included. It took us back to the early 1780's with Charles and Sarah Marshall, the parents of Mathew Marshall Ford who was Enslaved. It went on to tell us how Jane Ford a free woman married a slave and so Mathew took on her Surname. Jane and Mathew had 17 children. And finally, it explained our Early beginnings in what is known as Culpeper, Virginia.

You may not have been a history buff, but Culpeper was the sight of the most military battles in the Civil war.  Why is this important to Our family?  Jane and Mathew (a former slave) ran a commissary for the Union Army in the midst of the war.  Less than a mile away from the homestead was a military jail.

You have to ask yourself: What kind of People were Our Family!  Some of our new readers may still ask: Why  is Jane and Mathew important to us. Well Jane and Mathew fathered Richard Ford who married Sarah and had Mary T who in turn married Dock Stroud.  Well, hold on, Dock  and Mary had 5 daughters who eventually moved to Mount Vernon, N.Y and married into the Haden, Tucker, Michael,  Ford and Wyatt Family.  Need I say more?

The 141st Edition

March  Blessings Family

Yes the Ives of March are upon us!  Much love family!  I was blessed to see the movie Bob Marley, a few days ago. I found the movie to be thought provoking and I acknowledge that many things were left out. But what intrigued me the most was the mental thoughts of unity, survival, collective work and one's value.  I point this out to each of you today and ask a question:  Have we given our young people so much that their inner drive is extremely self centered?  This is not to say they are not good people, but are they Good People? In giving your children more than what you had are you denying them the ability to connect, feel and desire to elevate for themselves?

When you speak to your young people about Our History do you find their responses superficial?  Is there an aire of disconnect?  Well. here we are moving into the month of March , a month in which we celebrate Women's History.  Not only are the names of women important, but the situations they survived and the principles they uplifted for  our people are just as important .  What is it about  the women who were able to support families in hard times, in dark days, through tyranny, wars, rations and even infidelity,? Where does the drive and strength  come from?  What is it in a woman, that they can give her the strength to still rise, nurture a family and bring forth a nation?  How does one whose been left to find answers to feeding their children, supporting their spouses and raising the consciousness of the world; make it today with her unseen scars?  What did it take for our own ancestor Jane Ford, born in 1805, married to an Enslaved man, had eighteen children during slavery, how does she  become free and a property owner?

Family, in my own stumbling, blundering way I'm asking are you raising your people to be survivors and not a generation of entitled individuals?  Are you feeding their minds to go after what they want or are you Giving them more than what you had? Which,  when I look at you with what little you had; you didn't turn out so Bad!  This is just a thought and maybe a good talking point for family discussions or for you in your solitary moments.  Are we giving too much in material things and not enough nurturing in Mind Building!

It's Women's history Month, what kind of women are we raising?  What kind of men are we creating to reign with Queens? What kind of Royal army will the world have to face when they meet our families.                 Raise our children and ourselves into consciousness! Please don't sleep on this thought

Much love to everyone and All Due Respect

Our History

As we enter March known as Women's History month we closed out February Black History receiving a message from our DNA Cousin Thad Tucker. Some or most of you may think Thad is related on the Tucker side only.  When in fact Thad Tucker of New Orleans is actually related to ALL of us through the Stroud line.   Here's the message Thad posted on our private Facebook Family page.

Hey Family. I was home today and was trying to find out our connection. I knew we were cousins but couldn’t find the connection. Thanks a lot Gail Fuller for keeping me informed with all family business. Let me know when you have another reunion would definitely like to attend. Happy Sunday. Have a great weekend

Genealogy is no simple task, the obvious is not necessarily the truth. Without creating and researching every word in every document you may connect the wrong dots. Seeing the Tucker name I initially believed it was the Tucker line. But that couldn't be the case because my side only married into the Tucker line. So Thad's Sunday afternoon checking his tree brought us to the realization his Tucker line that came out of Tenn. was an arm of our Stroud line out of North Carolina. Family meet our dear Cousin Benjamin Thaddeus Tucker. Before closing out this section anyone doing research using DNA, should get as many samples as possible. Sometimes you may not be a DNA match but someone else in your line may share a DNA link. The charts above show the persons who he has a DNA match with.:
