Why were you invited to this newsletter?   Everybody comes from somebody! This is what all of us have in common.    In the early stages of the website some very interesting family history was included. It took us back to the early 1780's with Charles and Sarah Marshall, the parents of Mathew Marshall Ford who was Enslaved. It went on to tell us how Jane Ford a free woman married a slave and so Mathew took on her Surname. Jane and Mathew had 17 children. And finally, it explained our Early beginnings in what is known as Culpeper, Virginia.

You may not have been a history buff, but Culpeper was the sight of the most military battles in the Civil war.  Why is this important to Our family?  Jane and Mathew (a former slave) ran a commissary for the Union Army in the midst of the war.  Less than a mile away from the homestead was a military jail.

You have to ask yourself: What kind of People were Our Family!  Some of our new readers may still ask: Why  is Jane and Mathew important to us. Well Jane and Mathew fathered Richard Ford who married Sarah and had Mary T who in turn married Dock Stroud.  Well, hold on, Dock  and Mary had 5 daughters who eventually moved to Mount Vernon, N.Y and married into the Haden, Tucker, Michael,  Ford and Wyatt Family.  Need I say more?

157th Edition

Yes, we are too Blessed to be Stressed.

All Praises due to the Most High for allowing us to know who we are. We are running into June with a sense of Joy because we know " We Are Somebody" ! We are not only Survivors, we are Thrivers. The world has been told we are Fatherless Children and yet here we are in numbers to show they are wrong. We've faced many struggles, overcome hurdles that were mountains, and we've crossed over the Oceans not knowing which way to swim, But today in 2025 the seeds sown by Jane Ford and Mathew Marshall Ford flourish despite not having a chart to follow.

We are a mix of thrivers, survivors, dreamer, schemers and achievers. We exist in a world in which we serve mankind as best we can. We teach, we preach, we are storytellers ,we play, we sing, dance, and we create. No one expected us to survive and yet here we are students of Life's lessons. Many of us hold degrees from life's ups and downs, our men possess Degrees and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Street Survival. And today our children are recipients of love, nurturing and Education unmatched.

We are on a mission to raise this generation to higher heights and wave our banner high because we know who we are~

Much love goes out to each of you as we celebrate the month of June and give a loud and proud shout out to the father's of our family. This is not to say they were perfect but the lessons they taught us has brought us to a point where we know Family is First. If the father was missing, he taught the necessity to hang in there. For the fathers who struggled with their tramas; they taught us the struggle is real and we are capable. If his dreams were deferred, he taught you to Dare to Dream and Never Give Up.

So today Thanks goes out to the Ancestors and applause goes out to the Son's who are now Father's. Father's who have a road map to be the best they can be.

Happy Father's Day and Happy Juneteenth

Life takes many twist and turns, the wind blows and some are taken  Until now Many of us never considered who the members of the Patriarch are.  On first thoughts would be to think of our Grand Parents or Parents.  And yet some have lived long enough and stand high upon the ladder of life to be the new members of our Patriarch. Let's take a moment to acknowledge  Charles Chesson III son of  Charles Jr and Dorothy Tucker Chesson .  John Melvin Haden Jr. son of John Sr and Anna Fields Haden .  Michael Mikal  Rudolph Royster son of Walter and Helen Haden Royster  and finally  Clarence Stroud Haden son of Clarence Sr and Barbara Glover Haden
The assignment is huge; keep this family unit connected.  Short circuit that which would cause division, promote Unity  and Teach why we Never Give Up!

May Blessings Family,

Family members may find themselves tettering back and forth thinking about Mother's Day.  While others may not fully appreciate what they still have in their presence. In any case regardless of where you are in life's journey you are blessed.  You are blessed to have had the best example of what un conditional love looks like.

A love that wants only the best for you, even when you don't know what is best.  A love that protects and models how to reach your full potential. A love that  hurts and heals and demonstrates how to survive by never giving up.

So as you reflect this Mother's Day, shed a healing tear and laugh out loud for the many Happy Memories.  I miss my mom but I know she would be proud of what her children have achieved.  I know my Grandmother would be beaming with pride as she sees her legacy.  And my Great Grandmother, would be loud and Proud declaring those are mine.

So no matter where you are in life's Journey take a moment  to reflect on the gifts your mother has given you. Raise your glass and give a toast to the best teacher you ever had.  Some of your lessons may be what not to do; while others will show you strength you never knew you had.

To our Ancestors, we give you praise for being the warriors who served as vessels that brought us forth into the world. We are grateful for all of your sacrifices and pray we can make you proud.  Our oath to you is to keep our families connected and strong, with wisdom and love

Let's give a loud and Proud shout out to our Ancestors the Stroud and Ford Women!

Our History

In the 1940's the President of the United States had a program to get Americans back to work.  It was called the WPA project.  An are included was the Writers guild.  This project included getting stories about American life and the history of former enslaved individual.

One of these writers Margaret Jeffries interviewed our own Daniel Ford in Culpeper, Virginia.  Daniel talked about his Grandmother Jane Ford and his life of working on the Railroad.  Here are excerpts of his interview that were found in the National Archives in Washington, DC.
